OPEN LETTER TO His Excellency Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad (Kauran Bauchi)
The Executive Governor of Bauchi State
Why We Must Not Keep Quiet
Your Excellency, it is with great delight that I am writing this letter to you as a good indigene of Itas/Gadau Local Government Area of Bauchi State, who wants a great future for the good people of Itas/Gadau. I hope you will not see this letter as politically motivated or written to criticize your administration. I am not a politician, and I do not have any affiliation with any political party. I am a social entrepreneur with a focus on education. I believe education is the greatest gift you can give any child because it is the most powerful tool to change the world.
Bauchi State is considered the academic capital and knowledge powerhouse of Nigeria, not just because we have the highest number of professors in the country, but because these professors have gone as far as the global stage to make Nigeria and Africa as a whole proud. Our professors have made laudable contributions in almost every field of endeavor. Itas/Gadau produces, among others, Prof. Gambo Laraba Abdullahi and Prof. Hamisu Mashema. If there is anything that Itas/Gadau is known for all over Bauchi State, it is our intellectual heritage. There are only two alternatives: either a child goes to school or goes to the farm. Our people were wise in choosing to go to school instead of focusing solely on farming.
But now, the situation in the Itas community is getting out of hand, especially the condition of Government Day Secondary School, Itas. The school blocks are in need of renovation, and some require immediate attention, Sir.
With utmost respect, I would like to inform you of the request to renovate Government Day Secondary School, Itas. I would like to bring to your kind consideration that the condition of the above-mentioned building is not fine. The building accommodates hundreds of students and needs renovation, including fixing roof leaks over many parts of the building, replacing broken window panes, and addressing other issues. Additionally, the staff quarters need renovation. I kindly request you to prioritize these renovations as soon as possible.
I would be highly obliged for your kind support.
Attached are some photos of the school.
