In today's series, we will look at the brief background and educational achievements of an Professor of Law, Senior Lecturer of Shari'ah, a popular Islamic mullah, and an eloquent Qur'anic commentator and Jumu'at Khatib.
He is a Senior lecturer, a renowned Islamic Scholar, an indepth Researcher, an acclaimed Qur'anic Commentator as well as a retentive Memorizer of the Glorious Qur'an.
*He is Professor Mansur Isah Yelwa*.
Prof Mansur was born in Bauchi state. He had his first Degree in the Prestigious Islamic University of Madina. He then obtained his Master's Degree in comparative Laws from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. And finally completed his Ph.D from the same University in Malaysia in 2015.
Prof. Mansur Isah Yelwa is a gifted man whose endeavors and commitments in seeking knowledge goes back to his childhood. He was able to memorize the Glorious Qur'an at a very young age and actively participated in various Qur'anic competitions, among which was his victory to emerge as the winner of the National Qur'anic competition where he represented Nigeria at the International Qur'anic Competition held in Medina.
Prof. Masur is one of the leading intellectual pundits with whom this country is blessed with. He is deeply and always revered in the field of Islamic knowledge and teaching.
He is often at the frontline to be contacted to explain on several complex Islamic theories in today's mordern world.
As a lawyer by profession coupled with his scholarly position in this country, he has always been called to participate at different National policies, seminars, conferences as well as International organizations' projects/programs that might have a bearing effect on the Islamic religion and Shari'ah prescriptions/proscriptions.
Prof. Mansur Isah Yelwa has an in-depth knowledge of the Shari'ah Law with specialization in Ayat & Ahadith Al-hukkam as well as Usulul Fiqh.
His versatility in the aspect of comparative Laws never ceases to amaze his listeners.
Additionally, being a scholar and a Commentator (Mufassir) of the Glorious Qur'an; he is bestowed with eloquence in speech, grammatical sense in Hausa, Arabic and English languages as well as rich Vocabulary that help him to convincingly explain the confusing comparative Legal principles in simplistic terms.
He held numerous administrative roles and served in various National and International Commitees, organizations and Boards.
•He is a member of International Institute of Muslim Unity (Malaysia)
• He is the HoD of the Islamic Law Department in the Faculty of Law Bayero University Kano.
• He is a board member at Salam Takaful Insurance, with Headquarters in Kano and growing branches Nationwide.
• He is Presently the Chief Imam of the Abuabakar Tafawa-Balewa University Central Mosque, Bauchi state and also the Annual Qur'anic Commentator (Mufassir) of the mosque.
He contributed in the field of writing by the famous book he co-authored, titled *"AYAT WA AHADITH AL-AHKAM"*. He has over fifteen Publications in different National and international journals.
He was awarded as the Best Paper Award Winner at the international seminar on 'Al'Qur'an in the Contemporary Society', held in Terenganu, Malaysia in 2012.
Prof. Mansur Isah Yelwa will forever be remembered for his contributions in teaching the Glorious Qur'an, Sound moral inclination, Deeper thoughts in the emerging Religious issues, Guidance & Counseling, Patience and his faith in God.
