LISTEN TO BAUCHI STATE PEOPLE: 2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS
Now that His Excellency has formally launched a search for 2023 Gubernatorial running mate, there are many
factors to consider — political and personal. We are facing opponents( NNPP and APC) who embodied
personified change, really, and we needed to be able to make a convincing choice for a change that voters will
consider.
Many electorates obviously have argued that the choice of the speculated candidate was not a convincing
selection. I won't get to say so much about what makes him a wrong candidate for reasons best known to
everyone Sir. The said speculated “Deputy Governorship Candidate” was someone that was given a
Governorship Ticket in 2015 on the same platform of the PDP, yet he lost even his local government to APC’s
candidate. In 2019 he also ran for the house of reps in the same constituency, which hitherto he once
represented but lost to the APC again. Your Honorable intervention saved his seat.
The Electoral rule is that a running mate should do no harm to your candidature. He is having a track record of
successful canvassing capacity in his constituency. Hitherto, running mate should have a wide political
networks and acceptability from Twenty(20) Local Government Areas of Bauchi state.
In the history, there is a political tradition for LGAs that suit deputy offices, which are Gamawa and Katagum
LGAs. All other Local Government Areas hardly make a good deputy Governor that's widely accepted by
electorates. Likewise, for Senatorial position, hardly the chair matches Azare community. You are more likely
then to question this filtered analysis. Maybe the said person isn't someone who can adequately perform the job
of a running mate. Maybe he's too good for the job , and he needs additional outreach and adequate records of
political participation from accros the zone.
There is also often an assumption that choosing a candidate from a specific part of the Region might win you
votes. Hence, Your Excellency Sir, you need to make a careful selection for a candidate that's accepted by:
Traditional Leaders, Religious leaders? Youth groups, Business class, Political classes and Elites of Katagum zone.
However, selecting a deputy Governor is a gubernatorial candidate's first real decision. So by promising to
choose a competent person, it sends a message about your priorities.
In an ideal world, the deputy Gubernatorial candidate would be a person who could help the ticket to
win and help the Governor to govern and be ready to sarve the interest of governance.
